Let's get real for a moment. When people talk about global innovation, they often imagine sterile conference rooms and boring PowerPoint presentations.
When we first talked about the ‘Future Energy Markets Program’, we knew we were onto something special.
Something like…….
Having 51 brilliant energy professionals from India dive into Australia's energy landscape and learn about Australian business culture!
What is the Future of Innovation Program?
The Future of Innovation program emerges as a groundbreaking initiative that transcends traditional professional development change energy management initiative in India. Crafted through a strategic partnership between an award-winning company, HEX, and, a startup in higher education from India, Edept, on behalf of the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) Business School.
The Future of Innovation program, with a specialised focus on Energy Markets, offers a unique opportunity for students to explore the dynamic Australian landscape of energy innovation. This immersive experience is designed to provide participants with insights into the energy sector.
For two intensive weeks, our participants didn't just learn about energy markets – they lived and breathed them.
Morning workshops from industry leaders (like Shoaib Iqbal and Jon Whittle) flowed into afternoon site visits at cutting-edge energy companies (like AGL, Momentum Energy, and Origin Energy). Every moment was designed to push boundaries and challenge assumptions about what's possible in the energy sector.
But why this partnership?
While going global is part of our goals this year, expanding our impact remains our first priority.
We are passionate about helping people, especially those with innovative minds and entrepreneurial spirits. This partnership opens the door for us to connect leaders and legends from the energy sector in India with Australian energy markets, challenging them to transform energy management initiatives in India.
Since India's renewable sector is set to create 3M – 6M net jobs by 2050, we knew this partnership would be crucial instrumental in shaping the next wave of energy innovation.
What made this program truly exceptional?
Beyond the numbers and formal objectives, it was the electric atmosphere of cross-cultural collaboration that truly set this program apart.
Picture this: engineers from Mumbai exchanging ideas with Australian energy traders, sustainability experts from Delhi debating renewable strategies with Melbourne's grid operators. These weren't just professional exchanges – they were bridges being built between two nations' energy futures.
The most valuable thing we learned was something beautifully unexpected: true innovation flows in all directions.
While we came prepared to share Australia's energy market expertise, we found ourselves learning just as much from our Indian counterparts. Their innovative approaches to scaling renewable solutions in challenging environments, their creative strategies for managing complex grid dynamics, and their unique perspectives on consumer behavior opened our eyes to new possibilities.
The future of energy innovation (and beyond), we realised, lies not in one-way knowledge transfer, but in the rich tapestry of shared experiences and mutual learning.
What's Next?
This program has laid the groundwork for something much bigger. We’ve already secured another partnership with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) for 2025.
The details are under wraps for now, but stay tuned for more exciting announcements next year!
